Exercise Physiology
What is exercise physiology and how will it benefit me?
Our Bonfire Health Exercise Physiologist is here to help you achieve more independence and improve your quality of life through personalised exercise and movement plans tailored to your needs. Whether you’re managing a disability or simply finding it harder to move and stay active as you age, we will create a safe, supportive program designed just for you!
Our exercise physiology programs are designed to help you to increase your strength, balance, and mobility—making daily tasks easier and reducing the risk of falls or injuries. It is important to us that you maintain confidence in your body and stay active, so you can live with greater freedom and choice.
Exercise physiology options:
1:1 Sessions
In our initial consultation, you can tell me about what is limiting you with your condition, injury, or disability. I then assess your current physical capacity. It is our job as exercise physiologists to use standardized tests relevant to your condition and then create a safe exercise program to improve on these outcomes and meet your goals.
In our follow up consultations, we go through the exercise program that we developed in the first session. During this consultation we can make any adjustments to the program and we can see if we need to progress or regress the exercises.
Group Sessions
At Bonfire, we have three exercise physiology group classes which include:
Movers & Shakers
Achieve better strength, balance, and mobility through regular exercise classes with our exercise physiology team.
Reduce Falls:
- Parkinsons Disease increases our risk of falls, specific exercises can help improve your balance, reducing the risk of falls!
Improve Your Mobility:
- Bradykinesia or slowness of movement is a symptom of Parkinson’s and we know that improving our lower limb strength and walking speed greatly improves our mobility!
Improve Motor Control:
- Hand eye coordination and smoothness of movement are often impacted by Parkinsons however targeted exercises can help improve fine motor control and coordination.
Strength & Conditioning
Designed to be a higher intensity exercise session focused on strength, cardiovascular fitness, agility, and flexibility
Healthy Ageing
